Moonlight Dance

                                                               -----------------------

The crescent moon spills her sparkling milky light over the rooftops this night, glazing the buildings and streets with her delicate touch. But one silhouette is visible far above, perched on the one of tallest towers. A man, his frame lightly muscled, clothes loose and flowing with the night breeze, he stands with his head pointed to the sky.

So dark... shadows all around, he stands drenched in the endless blackness.

Brown eyes looking to the stars, he closes them for a moment to just take in the scent of the night, the coolness of the winds and this moment. Then suddenly his large black feathery wings come into view expanding his silhouette with a distinct sound that breaks the silence. And then with one push he sweeps off the tower, heavy wings blocking out the moon for a moment before propelling him skywards.

Such speed, his wings fold and stretch, each beat taking him further and further up into those glimmering stars. His face fixed in purpose, his tongue flitting out just a moment to lick his bottom lip, eyes passionate and focussed. The ground falls away.. so fast, so smooth until it remains as scattered lights - the sky consuming him with its many eyes. But he focusses on one - one light that glows far more than them all.

He spins and twists in the air, the stars skimming past him, this one light brighter and brighter still as he closes in, his black wings beating with vigour... until those brown eyes close a little. The light so bright but he can see now that star is not a star.... but an angel.

She stands there in the silky darkness, her mesmerising white skin glowing, so perfect, so bright - with just a silver sheet covering just body. Just draped so, her long brown hair falls over her body to her waist, beautiful arms over her chest, fingers clasped over beautiful breasts, her waist and navel visible before the cloth covers her again only to fly away once more... wonderful legs stretching down, delicate feet holding her in place.

There she is standing against that midnight sky floating... so far above it all. Her eyes are closed - she does not know who she is, what she is.... but he draws ever closer now. He tires - such a long journey, now and this his wings stopping beating to allow him to simply glide....

Soon he almost falters, sometimes falling a few feet before looking up again and again to take in her view, an inspiration - all for her, he can't stop... and he takes a few more, his muscles aching, his silk shirt drenched with sweat clinging to him. But he continues on and soon he is so close. Far above all the stars she stands, her light touching them all, touching him and with a few final beats he falls onto her, his arms enveloping her.

Her eyes open suddenly to look on him and as he looks into her incredible blue eyes, he simply crumples. He begins to fall from her but seeing him, she lets her previously dormant white wings stretch under the crescent moon. She grabs him, her tender fingers encircling his wrists, his arms and she pulls him up.

One look from her and he gasps - an angel, to save him from the darkness. So pure such a light... a healing light. His face glows, his eyes sparkle and his muscles ease once more, all the weariness fading. Thse black wings stretch and he kisses her. His angel. His light.

She stands there in his arms, her long flowing hair taken by a strange summer wind so far above and it moves her white sheet.. it continues to cling to her but it remains still over her body. As he looks at her, she begins to realise who she is. She had not known... no one had told her, she had fallen far above past the stars into the darkness. But he had found her once more. He always would.

Sweet whispers... in her ear reminding her.... this angel, that she had wings, such incredible wings that would allow her to fly above it all. No pain would ever touch her, no sorrow ever again. Moonblessed wings, she would fly over the world and its cares because she did not belong on it all, but far above. He asked her for only one thing... one dance... a moonlight dance with him, he had flown so far for her. Just one dance with this angel, his angel across those skies.

She smiles at him and takes his hand, she blessed him and fell into his arms. And he sweeps her away, his right hand in her left, his left arm around her waist... each step showing her the beauty within that she had never realised, her endless strength and her charms. Each touch from his slender fingers, each kiss on her lips, her cheeks, her ears...allowing his energy to flow into her. He loved her - this incredible feathered goddess and all he wanted was this one time with her to sweep across this surface so far away. Then he would let her fly and if she let him fall, he would once more... back into the shadows. Content to know he had danced with an angel.

Still - the dance had to end and when the final step was taken he kissed her one more time. For the summer, for her love and for all she had given him. But she was more than he would ever be - she had remembed who she was and she had given him what he wanted. He steps back now and to kiss her hand, to kneel before her. 'Thank you for this moonlit dance' he says. 'My dear angel, I have shown you all you are but I can not fly with you anymore - I can not dream to be with someone like you. So I will return now and remember you forever more'.

He smiles at her, let his wings stretch and tries to let go of her hand. But she would not let him go.. her hand tightens on his, she grips it and pulls him back. His brown eyes widen in surprise, a tear falling onto his cheek as she pulls him into her light. Those rosey cheeks, those perfect lips.. she whispers back 'But I won't let you go... and we will dance forever. You've taught me to fly.. and now you and I.. all we will have are these skies'.

She holds him, winking playfully... and he closes his eyes once more. In disbelief.. one last look down into the shadows and darkness which he had come. And now nevermore. The angel has asked for another dance, one to lost forever... for her he would do anything, his angel, his darling... his love. An endless dance with her is more than he could ever dream. So he takes her again... to never let her go.

This dance lasts forever far above, a moment so perfect, so sublime that time will never touch it. If one looks up to the stars, look for the one star that glows above them all. Then look slightly to its right and in the darkness you may see a black shape right next to the star that sometimes blocks it for a moment. Look hard enough and you will see her wings and his as they live that everlasting moment. For love. For her he dances, for her he flies..... and he will till the end of time.
